  Hurricane Gustav
Hurricane Gustav is approaching the Continental US. Expect the best but prepare for the worst.
There are a lot of things we can do to prepare for the storm. Here is a short list of important things to keep in mind for before, during and after the storm.

  • Plan ahead and don't wait for the last minute.
  • Gather valuables, important paperwork (especially the insurance policy) and essential medication.
  • Get a 4 day supply of food and water for the entire family.
  • Study the evacuation routes.
  • Fill up your gas tank and get your car ready.
  • Fill up additional gas containers, in case of shortage after the storm.
  • Locate the closet shelter to you home.Just in case, make sure they will take you in with your pets.
  • Put sand bags in front of doors and sliders.
  • Fill up your bathtub and water bottles and containers, as water might become contaminated during the storm.
  • Try to raise every thing of the floor, in case of flooding.
  • Unplug electrical equipment and appliances, in case of power surges.
  • Get batteries for radio, flashlights, etc.
  • Charge your cellphone's battery.
  • Get candles.
  • Get a first aid kit ready.
  • Communicate with your family and have a plan in case of an emergency.
  • Secure your home and board up your windows.
  • During the storm pick a room in the center of the home that has no windows.
  • DO NOT USE YOU GENERATOR INSIDE, IT WILL KILL YOU.
And most importantly use common sense. A hurricane is not a joke.
