How to prepare you property for a mold inspection

Prepare for a mold inspection / test

In order for lab results and environmental readings to be accurate there are certain requirements, please be sure to follow these steps precisely to obtain the best service:

  1. Avoid Exterior ventilation for 3 days – Since lab results and environmental readings are compared with outdoor fungal and environmental levels is best to keep ventilation at a minimum by avoiding open windows or doors, as well as keeping attic doors closed  for 3 days before the inspection.

  2. Avoid heavy cleaning for 2 days – Heavy cleaning such as vacuuming, dusting or sweeping generates a lot of dust, making readings inaccurate.

  3. Avoid spraying chemicals for 3 days – Antimicrobial or antibacterial agents can affect the accuracy of our readings and therefore items such as Lysol, Bleach, Fe-breeze, or any other type of air freshener should not be used for 3 days before the inspection.

  4. Turn off air purifiers, air cleaners, humidifiers or dehumidifiers for 3 days -  Any equipment that controls humidity or claims to removes pollution should not be used for at least 3 days before the inspection as it could affect our readings.

  5. No construction for 3 days – Construction work of any kind should be avoided for 3 days prior to the inspection as it generates lots of dust and particles thus affecting our readings.
